Wonder what size jeans you’ll wear 10 years from now? Even if your weight is healthy today, the way that you eat now may foretell your weight in another decade, notes a Boston University 12-year study of 700 women.
Try to predict your future figure. Are you a …
□ Heart-Healthy Eater: more nutrient-dense fruits and vegetables, and lean food servings with less fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol, and more carbohydrate and fiber
□ Light Eater: fewer calories, but more fat and saturated fat than a Heart-Healthy eater
□ Moderate Eater: moderate eating
□ High-Fat Eater: more animal and vegetable fats, sweets and desserts, meats, sodas, and other sweetened beverages
□ Empty-Calorie Eater: similar to a High-Fat Eater
Over time, suggests the study, heart-healthy eating, followed by light eating, may be your best bet to keep pounds off. Light eating also was linked to more weight fluctuation. Not surprisingly, high-fat and empty-calorie eating seem to increase the chance of becoming overweight.
