You’ve been going 24/7, but it’s finally time for a summer vacation. Regional cuisine is a great way to get the “taste” of the locale, but watch out! With too much eating for entertainment, calories can add up. To avoid tripping up as you enjoy food on your vacation:
- Order your main meal for lunch. Lunch portions tend to be smaller.
- Pace yourself. One hearty meal a day—even when the cuisine or restaurants lure you—is likely enough.
- Search menus. Look for regional vegetables, fruits, and perhaps seafood, not just the dessert specialties.
- Give yourself leeway. If you indulge on vacation, leave feelings of guilt behind. Just get back on track with smart eating when you get home.
