Energy drained? No time just for you? Too many choices? Maybe it’s time to balance, to simplify. Some say, “Live simply so you can simply live.” After all, balanced living is good not only for your head, but for your whole body.

Get “real simple” to put more balance—and more fitness—in your life.

  • Just say “no.” Let go, or at least cut back, on one thing you do. For example, bring a watermelon, not a homemade dessert, to a group picnic.
  • Delegate. Divide family household duties: cooking, cleaning up, taking out garbage. Get more enthusiasm by letting others choose their tasks.
  • Find quicker ways to get things done. Double batch for two meals at a time: chili for today, later chili-topped spuds. Buy partly prepared foods to cut kitchen time. Let your slow cooker cook for you. Prepare meals on weekends; freeze until you need them.
  • Clean kitchen cabinets, drawers, and shelves. Donate extras to a local shelter.
  • Deal once with papers, voice mail, clipped recipes and coupons, e-mail. Off your desk, off your mind.
  • Decide what you don’t need to do today—or maybe ever. Try instead to accomplish one or two things well today.
  • Read April 15 and May 22 again!
