Are eating healthy and active living important to you? An overwhelming 85 percent of American consumers say it is, according to a recent survey. Hungry for timely nutrition information? Almost 60 percent of consumers say they are.
So where do you go for reliable advice? See a qualified professional: a registered dietitian (RD) with a four-year degree in nutrition, or a dietetic technician, registered (DTR) with a two-year nutrition degree. Both complete nutrition internships and must stay up-to-date with ongoing nutrition education.
This National Nutrition Month, find a reliable expert for science-based advice.
- Click on to expertise from the American Dietetic Association at www.eatright.org for updates on nutrition issues and for a referral to an RD near your home.
- Call your local hospital or university Extension office for a local nutrition expert.
- Read what RDs write in popular media (magazines or newspapers, books, or Web site columns). Look for the RD initials after the author’s name.
