Healthy Diet for November 27 – Just Jump ⋆ Healthy Diet ⋆ Lifestyle

Want to feel like a kid again? Get a jump start with a jump rope! You’ll get a great cardio workout while you fine-tune your foot-hand coordination. The only expense: a good pair of cross-trainers (shoes with a reinforced toe and good cushioning) and a lightweight jump rope. For the right length rope, step on the rope’s center; the handles should stretch to your armpits.

Now for technique. Relax your shoulders. Bring in your elbows. Bend your knees slightly. Twirl the rope smoothly over your head with your wrists. Keep your head up and back straight. Make your jumps low.

Start jumping this week.

  • Begin simply. Start with a short jumping session; do more as you build your stamina.
  • Jump to music. Find some upbeat tunes, and jump rope to their beat.
  • Keep twirling. When you take a break, twirl your rope from side-to-side to keep moving your arms.
  • Learn new jumps. Get a jump-roping videotape to learn from.
  • Try double Dutch—perhaps with kids.
